• ProfessorMBBS or equivalent (recognised by IMC Act 1956/NMC), plus a Postgraduate qualification (MD/MS or NMC-recognised equivalent) in the subject of the post — 14 years
• Additional ProfessorSame as Professor — 10 years
• Associate ProfessorSame as Professor — 6 years
• Assistant ProfessorSame as Professor — 3 years
• PostEssential Qualification — Experience (2/5-year DM/MCh course) — Experience (3/6-year DM/MCh course)
• ProfessorMBBS plus D.M./M.Ch (or NMC-recognised equivalent) in the subject of the post — 12 years — 11 years
• Additional ProfessorSame as above — 8 years — 7 years
• Associate ProfessorSame as above — 4 years — 3 years
• Assistant ProfessorSame as above — No additional experience required — No additional experience required
